During routine preventative maintenance works of a large gas compressor high voltage drive motor, it was identified that extensive bedplate corrosion in the areas of the motor mounting feet had taken place after removal of the motor had taken place for an offsite overhaul.
To enable the motor to be refitted to the bedplate, high accuracy machining works was required in the motor feet bedplate mounting areas to remove the extensive corrosion.
Initial enquiries were made with M&A Engineering Ltd to discuss the required works, where very helpful advice was given on the required process to be followed from the initial information which was provided.
From the initial M&A scoping site visit to the actual site works visit, all the required works was carried out to a high quality with health and safety always being there number 1 priority, which is fundamental to any on site machining works.
The works was also carried out under very challenging weather conditions to an accelerated timeline, with extensive out of normal working hours carried out at short notice to ensure the motor planned return to site date was not delayed.
